Tokyo Camera Fair 23rd August - 29th August - brief report

I had the great pleasure of visiting the Tokyo Import Camera Show today. Around 30 Japanese dealers and one dealer from Vienna, had stands at the show. Held at the luxurious Takashimaya department store, in Shinjuku, this show (or camera fair, as we know it in the UK) was unusually empty of customers, on this opening day. The prices weren't particularly anything to write home about either, although with a little judicious bargaining, a few deals were to be had. What I didn't buy: Mamiya Press 50mm F6.3 scratched to buggery ¥23000; Nikon Model 1 Black (only just, considering the brassing) ¥18million, Horseman VH-R -one previous owner - an underwater dweller, by the looks of the camera - ¥28,000. Sorely tempted but I just know what the wife will say - Rollei Black Magic 35 Ltd Edn ¥438,000.
Not many western dealers in evidence on this first day, though I did bump into my friends from Team Foto, making inroads into the Japanese stock of GW690 bodies. Will be back later in the week with some pictures for you all.
